So, the ABC Family television show The Secret Life Of The American Teenager is almost kind of a guilty pleasure for me, because it is so moralizing and just plain bad. It is impressive levels of bad. All the characters are one-dimensional, the dialogue is forced, and its appeal is based on its sleaziness and then its message about its sleaziness. It's exactly the sort of show that scared parents would want to show their kids as their kids roll their eyes and ignore it. The panic of, "OMG HIGH SCHOOLERS HAVE SEX!" is kind of amazing.
So, X-Files this weekend, wheee. I don't even care about how bad it is/will be.

For the sake of people's sanity (looks at ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif) highvoltage11 *grin*) I PROMISE I WILL PUT ALL THOUGHTS ABOUT THE X-FILES MOVIE UNDERNEATH A HUGE AND OBVIOUS CUT AFTER I SEE IT!!!
But I don't get to see the movie til tomorrow *cries* so for now it's just gonna be a lot of premiere pictures. Which I don't consider spoiler-ish but if it annoys you then let me know. I MIGHT do something about it, but I make no promises in my excitement *wink*

Speaking of art, I've just made a sort of 'AUGUST IS APPROACHING' post for ![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/community.gif) naarmamo, so I thought I would mention it here as well. Naarmamo is that thing where some of us try to do a piece of art every day in August. You should VERY MUCH JOIN IN. We've done it for two years and it's really kind of super terrific. You don't have to have ANY ARTISTIC ABILITY, I really mean that, I say it every year and I never think people really believe me, but it can be great even if you NEVER DRAW and don't know how. You don't have to draw, either, we accept absolutely any kind of art you can think of, although personally I don't really think writing counts, just because there's nanowrimo for that. Luckily what I think DOESN'T MATTER and you can do as you please. It really is lovely and very friendly. Everyone posts their art every day in comments to a master post, and people are ever so great about each other's stuff, no matter the level of ability, and it's really interesting to see what you come up with when you have to think of something EVERY DAY. You don't have to scan stuff in if you can't or just don't want to, you can always just comment saying what you did. There's a better explanation of sort of how it works in the userinfo. You should totally join. On the last day you get to make yourself a CERTIFICATE proving that you WON. It's good joy.
I'm going to be posting my pictures here again, I'm not very good at art, but I really don't think that's a reason I shouldn't do it, and August makes a good excuse to draw when I never really think to when it's not August. So yes. This is just so no one accidentally thinks I accidentally am posting things because I think they're good. Good. And you very much don't need to be polite about my things, although I'd rather you didn't post comments of derision either, ignoring them is absolutely okay.

But if I hadn't, how would I know that it's actually possible to go beyond contact embarrassment into realms of the literally unbelievably bad?
Yawn. I spent the weekend in a field with only moderate mud and then came home and knitted. This is what happens when I am feeling cheerful. It does not make sense as such. I have a deeply un-me red beret now though, so that's good. And one of a pair of, er, elbow-length brown gloves for which I can already think of several uses. (Sitting for years waiting for me to knit the other one, probably.)
I also had some fannish/literarary thoughts but they are quite grumpy so I shall save them for when I require Catharsis. They are not very big or clever so they may as well be useful.
Now I need to put clothes on and go into town. This works out well as I will be able to buy buttons for the practical gloves.
Maybe I can get them Clangers in the post now that I have actual energy from somewhere, but it just seems unlikely somehow.
